Bunney's  Teddy Bear Friends 2

Tutorial

This is the bear we will be creating today.

This tutorial was created using PSP 7. The inspiration for these little guys came from some material I had purchased some time ago. I thought they where cute so I tried recreating them in PSP.  If you would like to create the other bears shown above, you will find the links at the bottom of this tutorial.  I hope you enjoy making these little guys as much as I have creating them for you! Supplies needed to complete this tutorial.

1.  My  teddy bear selection files. Download HERE. (Unzip these into your psp selections folder. If you do not have one create one now).

2. My pattern fills. Download HERE. (Unzip these into your psp pattern folder).

Lets Get Started

1.   Open a new 330 by 405 (16. 7 Million color) transparent image.

2.   Foreground (styles) color #312A22. Background needs to be a pattern of fill that you want to use for your teddy bear. I am using polk_a_dot.  Use these settings below.

3.   Layers, new raster layer. Name this layer body.   

4.   Selections, load from disk. Choose body.sel   

5.   Flood fill with  #312A22. Selections, modify contract by 2 (two). Flood fill with polk_a_dot. Selections, float.

6.   Effects, 3D effects, cut out. Use these settings. Color is  #CAB078 (Note: If you used a different pattern fill for your teddy bear, you may need to adjust the color of the cut out). (Color shown below is not the color your cut out will be for this tutorial).

      

7.   Layers, new raster layer. Name this layer left arm.       

8.   Selections, load from disk. Choose leftarm.sel. Click ok.

9.   Repeat steps 5 and 6. (You will need to change the blur to 15 on the cut out effect). Selections, select none.

10.   Layers, new raster layer. Name this layer right arm.

11.   Selections, load from disk. Choose rightarm.sel. Click ok.

12.   Repeat steps 5 and 6.

13.   Layers, arrange, send to bottom.

14.   Foreground (styles) color #312A22. Background color needs to be your starz pattern file. Use same settings as before.

15.   Layers, new raster layer. Name this layer  bow2.

16.   Selections, load from disk. Choose bow2.sel. Click ok.

17.   Flood fill with #312A22. Selections, modify, contract by 2. Flood fill with starz pattern.

18.   Selections, float. Effects, 3D effects, cut out. Use these settings. Color is #7A5DD7. Selections, select none.

19.   Layers, new raster layer. Name this layer bow3.

20.  Selections, load from disk. Choose bow3. sel. Click ok.

21.   Repeat steps above for bow3 as you did for bow2.

22.   Layers, arrange, bring to top.

23.   Layers, new raster layer. Name this layer bow1.

24.   Selections, load from disk. Choose bow1.sel. Click ok.

25.   Repeat same steps for bow1 as you did for bow2 and bow3. Your image should look similar to this.

26.   Foreground (styles) color #312A22. Background change to polk_a_dot.

27.   Layers, new raster layer. Name this layer head.

28.   Selections, load from disk. Choose head.sel. Click ok.

29.   Flood fill with  #312A22. Selections, modify, contract by 2, flood fill with polk_a_dot pattern. (Make sure your scale is still set at % 53. Selections, float.

30.   Effects, 3D effects, cut out. Use these settings. Color is #CAB078.

31.   Selections, select none.

32.   Highlight your right arm layer and add a new raster layer. Name this layer right leg.

33.   Selections, load from disk. Choose rightleg.sel. Click ok.

34.   Flood fill with #312A22. Selections, modify, contract by 2. Flood fill with polk_a_dot. Selections, float.

35.   Effects 3D effects, cut out. Use same settings as before only change blur to 15. 

36.   Layers, new raster layer. Name this layer left leg.

37.   Selections, load from disk. Choose leftleg. sel.  Click ok.

38.   Repeat same steps above for the right leg. Once you have that finished go to layers, arrange bring to top. Your image should look similar to this.

39.   Foreground (styles) color #312A22. Background color #F3E6CF.

40.   Layers, new raster layer. Name this layer muzzle.

41.   Selections, load from disk. Choose muzzle.

42.   Flood fill with  #312A22. Selections, modify, contract by 2, flood fill with #F3E6CF. Selections, float.

43.   Effects, 3D effects, cut out. Use same settings. Make sure blur is set to 15. 

44.   Do not deselect. Add a new raster layer. No need to name this layer. Using your airbrush tool with settings below. Spray some white around the outside of the bears muzzle. 

45.   Effects, blur, gaussian blur. Use radius of 2.98. Selections, select none.

46.   Highlight body layer and add a new raster layer. Name this layer body lines.

47.   Selections, load from disk. Choose bodylines.sel. Click ok.

48.   Flood fill with #312A22. Selections, select none.

49.   Layers, new raster layer. Name this layer head lines.

50.   Selections, load from disk. Choose headlines. sel. Click ok.

51.   Flood fill with #312A22. Selections, Select none.

52.   Layers, new raster layer. Name this layer right paw.

53.    Foreground (styles) color  #312A22. Background color #F3E6CF.

54.   Selections, load from disk. Choose rightpaw.sel. Click ok.

55.   Flood fill with   #312A22. Selections, modify, contract by 2. Flood fill with  #F3E6CF. Selections, float.

56.   Effects, 3D effects, cut out. Use same settings as before. Make sure blur is set to 15. Selections, select none.

57.   Repeat same steps for left paw. Make sure you add a new raster layer. Your image should look similar to this.

58.   Change foreground (styles) color to black.

59.   Layers, new raster layer. Name this layer nose.

60.   Selections, load from disk. Choose nose.sel. Click ok.

61.   Flood fill with black. (You can add an inner bevel to the nose or use eyecandy glass). Selections, select none.

62.   Layers, new raster layer. Name this layer mouth.

63.   Selections, load from disk. Choose mouth.sel. Click ok.

64.   Flood fill with black. Selections, select none.

65.   Layers, new raster layer. Name this layer eye.

66.   Selections, load from disk. Choose eye.sel. Click ok.

67.   Flood fill with black. Selections, select none.

68.   Open your layer palette and drag this layer down below the muzzle layer. 

69.   Layers, duplicate. Image mirror. Place this eye on the right side of the bears muzzle. Your image should look similar to this.

            

Your image, or course, will be larger and show more detail. You can now merge visible all layers and rename Bear.
