Bunney's Fallen Snowman

This tutorial was created using PSP 7 and probably can be revised for other versions of psp. This little guy was inspired by an image I had seen at Wal-Mart. I thought it was so cute I had to try to recreate it. You will need eye candy 4000 (optional) for this tutorial. This is just for the weave in the hat and mitten.  You can find a trial version HERE. You will also need Fantastic Machine Paint Engine which you can find HERE

Lets Get Started

Remember Save Often!

Open a new 600 by 600 (16.7 million colors) transparent image. Large I know but you can resize later. Your foreground (styles) color should be black. Background color needs to be white. Using your preset shapes tool browse to find your ellipse shape.

Make sure you change your line width to 2 (two). Now draw an oblong shape for the snowman's body.

Remember your image will be larger and show more detail. Now go to selections, select all, then selections float. This puts your marching ants around the snowman's body only. Next we are going to add a cut out effect so go to effects, 3D effects, cut out and use these settings.

The shadow color is #6C6C6C. Apply a second cut out effect, only this time change your horizontal and vertical to 3 (three). Add a new raster layer and name this layer shadow. Keep your marching ants around your snowman's body. Use your airbrush tool with these settings.

And spray the black around the sides of your snowman's body as close to the marching ants as possible. You want some on the snowman's body. Like this,

Now go to effects, blur, gaussian blur and use these settings.

Go to selections, select none. Then go to layers merge visible and rename this layer body. Add a new raster layer and name this layer leg. Background color and foreground (styles) color should still be the same. Black for foreground and white for background. Using your preset shapes tool again draw another ellipse (oblong) shape to the left side of your snowman's body like this.

Using your deformation tool we need to rotate it to the left just a little.

Now go to selections, select all, then selections float. This will put the marching ants around your leg. Now apply the same cut out effect as we did on the snowman's body. Don't forget to go back and add the second cut out effect using the 3 (three). Add a new raster layer, this layer named shadow and going back to your airbrush tool apply the same effect we used on the snowman's body. Make sure you just go on the outer edges we don't want to much of the black on his leg. Apply the gaussian blur as well same settings. Open your layer palette and put an x on the body layer.

Now merge visible your remaining layers and rename this layer leg. Once you have your leg set where you want it go to selections select none and make sure you have your layer palette open and duplicate this layer then go to image, mirror. You might have to move it to the right just a little. This is what you should have.

Add a new raster layer and name this layer foot. Once again going back to your preset shapes tool draw another oblong ellipse shape to the left of your left leg. This one needs to be a little longer and bigger.

Going back to your deformation tool rotate this one to the left like you did with his leg. His foot should go in front of his leg like this

Once again go to selections, select all, selections float. Apply the same cut out effect once again making sure you apply both cut outs. Then add a new layer and name this layer shadow. Use your airbrush tool same settings get as close to his outside of the foot like you did his leg and body. Apply the same gaussian blur as we did before. This is what you should have now.

Go to selections select none. Open your layer palette and place an x on these layers.

Go to layers and merge these layers and rename this layer foot. Make sure you have your foot set where you want it open you layer palette and duplicate this layer and then image mirror.  This is what you should have

Let's go on over to page 2.
