"Elfie" A cute little Elf Tutorial By Bunney Page 4 Add a new raster layer and name this layer legs. Change your background color back to the same red you used for his hat and body/pants. I am using #C00000. Using your preset shapes tool with these settings At the bottom of your elf's body draw a long rounded rectangle for his legs. I drew mine about 15 pixels wide. But this is up to you depending on how wide you want the elf's legs to be This is what mine looks like Remember how we added the stripes to the shirt on page 1 (one)? If not refer back to page 1. We want to add stripes to his legs the same way we did on the shirt. Once you get your stripes finished, I added an inner bevel to mine, this is optional. But here are the settings I used incase you want to use the same ones. Go to effects 3D effects, Inner bevel here are the settings Drag this layer all the way to the bottom of your layer palette so that its below all other layers. Using your preset shapes tool using the ellipse shape again. Make sure your background color is still set on the red we are using for the elf. Mine is #C00000. Now draw a oval shape at the base of the elf's body like this Using your object selector tool right click on the inside of the pants leg and go to node edit, we need to edit this just a little to get it to looking like his pants. Slide your pants leg over to where its plush with the bottom of the body. Take node 1 (one) and left click on the node till you see the arrow. Pull the bottom of the arrow down to the bottom of the pants leg the top of the arrow needs to go toward the top like this Take node 4 (four) and left click on the node till you see the arrow, pull it down and drag the arrow to where it forms a straight line like this Take node 3 (three) and left click on the node till you see the arrow. Drag the arrow in just a little to the right so that its not to long, take the arrow and pull it straight up so that your pants leg has formed almost a straight line like this Do the same with node 2 (two) the same way you did node 4 (four) left click on it till you get the arrows and then pull the arrow straight out to form a line. This is what you should have. Once you have your pants leg shaped the way you want it right click and go to quit node editing, then to layers convert to raster. Name this layer pantsleg. You will also need to make sure this layer gets put below the pants but above the legs layers. Make since?? LoL hope I didn't confuse you there. It needs to be in-between those two layers. Don't forget to use your magic wand and select the pants leg then go to selections invert to make sure that ONLY the pants leg is selected. Then use your airbrush, same settings as before and add the black spray around like we have done thru-out this tutorial. Once you are finished with this leg go to edit, copy, edit paste as a new selection, then image mirror and place on the opposite side. This is what you should have this far Move on over to page 5 and we will add the feet and hopefully the hands LOL. This Tutorial ©
