All Dressed Up
For Halloween Bear Tutorial

Page 2

Add yet another layer *S* and name this layer body. Using your preset shapes tool same settings as before, create as vector IS CHECKED!! Using your ellipse shape draw a long oblong or if you wish a short fat body, its up to you;))) We are using this as a vector shape incase you need to edit it in any way, If so make sure you convert this layer to raster when you get done with his body. Mine looks like this

Open your layer palette and drag your body layer below your head layer so that your body is just under the bears head .

Add a new layer once again lol. Name this layer costume. Change your background color to black, both foreground (styles) and background colors should be black. Using your preset shapes tool

Same settings as we have used thru out this tutorial making sure create as vector IS CHECKED!! Using your ellipse shape again, Draw a circle about the same size of your bears body, We are going to edit the nodes to shape it up for his costume.  Using your object selector tool   right click inside of the black circle you just drew. Go to node edit and holding down your ctrl key on your keyboard, move your mouse over your shape until you see the words (add) we want to add a node just beside the top node on the left and add another one to the right, then moving down on both sides just a little add a node again to the left and the right like this

pull your top node the one beside node 1 and 2 down to the middle then bring both nodes 1 and 2 down also so that all three nodes on that line are even like this

Now take node 5 (shown below) and bring it over to the left to where it meets the bears head, do the same with node 6 on the opposite side.

Then you will need to line the rest of the nodes so they are rounded plush with the bears body like this

Now go to the bottom middle node and add a node on both sides of this node like this

Now just pull nodes a and b in and upwards just a little like this

That wasn't so bad was it? LOL. Once you have your costume shaped the way you want it right click again and go to quit node editing and go to layers, convert to raster.

add a new layer and we are going to name this layer costume stripes, You will probably think I did this in a funny way and I probably did, But this was the easiest way for me and you may have an easier way to do this but this is how I added the stripes. Change your background color to a yellow, I am using #FFFF80. Once again we are going to use our preset shape only this time we want to use rectangle, You may have to use vectors to shape these around the bears body, Just play around with this part , Draw a thin rectangle going across the bears costume like this

When you get one set the way you want it you can go to edit copy, edit paste as a new selection, continue adding stripes until you get his costume set the way you want it, Now when you get to the top part of the costume, what I did was create a small rectangle on both sides and created those as vectors so that I could form them to the costume, I did the same on the bottom part, This is what my costume looks like now.

This picture above shows him with arms already, yours will not have those yet lol:)))

Add a new raster layer and name this layer arms:0)

Set your background color back to the brown you are using for your bear, I am using #BF896C, using your preset shapes tool   again we are going to use our ellipse shape the settings are below.

Draw an oblong ellipse for his arm, we need to edit it just a bit

Using your object selector tool right click on the inside of the bears arm and go to node edit, move the right side node in and the bottom node up, make sure the top of the arm sits right inside the bears head like this

Once you have your arm set where you want it go to edit copy, edit paste as a new selection, then image mirror and place on the opposite side of the bears body. Your bear should now look similar to this

Keep in mind your bear will be larger and show more detail then the one shown above. This one has been resized for download time;0)

Starting to take shape huh?  We only have a few more steps *G* So move on over to page 3 and we will add the bears legs;))
