Bunney's Christmas Soldier

 This tutorial was created using PSP 7. It is possible that it can be revised for other versions of PSP. This little guy was inspired by an image in a craft magazine. I had to try recreating him using PSP. I hope you enjoy this tutorial as much as I have creating him for you. 

Filters needed for this tutorial

1. DSB Flux Filter (optional). Download HERE.

2. Eye Candy 4000 (optional). Download a trial version  HERE.

3. Styled line used in this tutorial. Download HERE. Unzip into psp styled lines folder. 

4. Blade pro (optional). Download demo HERE.

5. Dee's silver shimmer preset for blade pro. You can find that  HERE. (Thank you so much Dee).

Lets get started

Don't forget to save often!

1.   Open a new 400 by 700 (16.7 million colors) transparent image. (I made this large so you will have lots of room to work with).

2.   Layers new raster layer. Name this layer face.

3.   Set foreground (styles) color to #F6D2C4. Set background color to #F6D2C4.

4.   Preset shapes tool , ellipse with these settings. Draw a circle for your soldiers head. (Note: To constrain to a perfect circle, hold the shift key on your keyboard when drawing).

5.   Selections, select all. Selections float.

6.   Effects 3D effects, cut out. Use these settings.

7.   Selections, select none.

8.   Layers, new raster layer. Name this layer eyes.

9.   Foreground (styles) color black. Background color black.

10.  Preset shapes tool. Same settings. Draw a oval shape for the soldiers eye. 

11.  Deformation tool . Rotate your image to the right. Your image should now look like this.

12.  Open layer palette. Duplicate layer. Image mirror.  Move eye to the right and place where you want it.

13.  Highlight face layer. 

14.  Selections, select all. Selections float. 

15.  Layers, new raster layer. Name this layer cheeks. (Keep the marching ants around the face).

16.  Foreground (styles) color #800000. Background null.

17.  Using airbrush tool . Use these settings.

18.  Spray two cheeks on your soldier.

19.  Effects, blur, gaussian blur. Use these settings.

20.  Selections, select none.

21.  Foreground (styles)  color white. Background color null.

22.  Layers, new raster layer. Name this layer dot.

23.  Using airbrush tool with these settings. Spray two dots on the cheeks.

Your image will now look something similar to this one.

24.  Layers, new raster layer. Name this layer mouth. 

25.  Foreground (styles) color black. Background color null.

26.  Using draw tool with these settings.

27.  Draw a line for his mouth and a curve line around the cheeks. Your image should look similar to this. 

Save your image as psp file.
