Puppy Tutorial

This tutorial was written  in PSP 7. It assumes you have working knowledge of layers, and use of selections. Supplies you will need for this tutorial.

1.   My selection files. Download those HERE. Unzip these into your psp selection folder. If you don't have one create one now.

Lets get started!

1.   Open a new 500 by 500 (16.7 Million colors) transparent image. 

2.  Layers, new raster layer. Name this layer right ear..

3.   Foreground color black. Background color #E6D5B2. (Or a color you would like your puppy to be).

4.  Selections, load from disk. Choose rightear.sel. Click ok.

5.   Flood fill with black. Selections, modify contract by 2.Flood fill with #E6D5B2. Selections, select none.

6.   Selections, select all. Selections float. Selections, invert. 

7.   Effects, 3D effects, drop shadow. Use these settings. Color is #5C421D.

 

8.   Selection, select none.

9.   Layers, new raster layer. Name this layer left ear.

10.   Selections, load from disk. Choose left ear.sel. Click ok.

11.  Repeat steps 5 thru 8.

12.  Layers, new raster layer. Name this layer body.

13.  Selections, load from disk. Choose body.sel. Click ok.

14.  Repeat steps 5 thru 8.

15.  Layers, new raster layer. Name this layer face.

16.  Repeat steps 5 thru 8. Your puppy should be looking similar to this.

17.  Layers, new raster layer. Name this layer tail.

18.  Selections load from disk choose tail.sel. Click ok. 

19.  Foreground (styles) color black. Background color #5C421D.

20.  Flood fill with black. Selections modify contract by 2. Flood fill with  #5C421D.

21.  Selections, select none. Selections, select all. Selections, float. Selections invert. 

22. Effects 3D effects, drop shadow. Apply same settings. Only change the color to black. 

23.  Selections, select none.

24. Layers, arrange send to bottom.

25.  Highlight face layer and add a new raster layer. Name this layer front right paw.

26.  Foreground (styles) color black. Background color  #E6D5B2

27.  Selections, load from disk. Choose frontrightpaw.sel. Click ok.  

28.  Flood fill with black. Selections, modify contract by 2. Flood fill with  #E6D5B2. . 

29.  Selections, select none. Selections, select all. Selections float. Selections invert.

30.  Effects 3D effects, drop shadow. Apply same settings as you used earlier, only this time change the color to  #5C421D.

31.  Selections, select none.

32.  Layers, new raster layer. Name this layer front left paw.

33.  Selections, load from disk. Choose frontleftpaw.sel. Click ok.

34.  Repeat steps 28 thru 31.

35.  Layers, new raster layer. Name this layer face details.

36.  Selections, load from disk. Choose facedetails.sel. Click ok.

37.  Flood fill with black. Selections, select none. At this point this is what your puppy should look like.

 

38. Layers, new raster layer. Name this layer nose.

39.  Selections, load from disk. Choose nose.sel. Click ok. 

40.  Flood fill with black. 

41.  Effects 3D effects, inner bevel. Use these settings.

42.  Selections, select  none.

Move on over to page 2 and we will finish your puppy up!
